How It Works

Fuel consumption is estimated using the rule-of-thumb formula:

GPH = (HP × Throttle Factor × Specific Consumption) ÷ Fuel Weight

Throttle factors account for the non-linear relationship between throttle position and fuel burn. At 50% throttle, engines typically use about 45% of full-throttle fuel.
