Hanging Tips

  • Mount the rod 4–6 inches above the window frame (or at the ceiling) to make windows appear taller.
  • Extend the rod 3–6 inches beyond each side so curtains can stack off the glass when open.
  • For inside mount, measure inside the frame at top, middle, and bottom — use the narrowest width.
  • Add 1–2 inches for hems and headers when buying raw fabric (already included in total above).
  • Heavier fabrics (velvet, lined drapes) need sturdier rods and brackets every 30–36 inches.
  • Iron or steam curtains before hanging for a polished look.
