🌎 Orbital Velocity Calculator

Find the velocity needed for a circular orbit at any altitude around a celestial body.

v = √(GM / r)

Understanding Orbital Velocity

Orbital velocity is the speed an object must travel to maintain a stable circular orbit. At 400 km altitude (ISS orbit), the velocity is about 7,670 m/s. Higher orbits require lower velocity but more energy to reach. Escape velocity is √2 times the orbital velocity at any given altitude.
