Calculate RT60 reverberation time, room modes, and critical distance for your room.
First 3 axial modes for each dimension. These are frequencies where standing waves form.
Distance where direct and reverberant sound are equal. Place your listening position inside this distance for clarity.
RT60 is the time for sound to decay by 60 dB. Studios typically aim for 0.3-0.5s, control rooms 0.2-0.4s, and concert halls 1.5-2.5s. The Sabine equation (RT60 = 0.161V / A) is used here, where V is volume and A is total absorption area. Lower RT60 means a drier, more controlled sound.
