How to Measure for a Belt
- Use an existing well-fitting belt: Measure from the buckle fold to the hole you normally use — that's your true belt size, which is usually longer than your pants waist size.
- Or measure your waist directly: Wrap a soft tape measure around your waist where you'd wear your pants, keeping it snug but not tight.
- Add for buckle fit: A good rule of thumb is to add 2 inches (5 cm) to your pants waist size to get the correct belt size, since the belt needs to fold back through the buckle.
- Middle hole rule: A properly sized belt should fasten at the middle hole (usually the 3rd of 5), giving room to adjust up or down.
- EU sizing is in cm: European belt sizes are typically given directly in centimeters of waist measurement, so EU 90 ≈ waist 90 cm.
- UK sizing mirrors US: UK belt sizes are generally the same numbering as US inches sizing.
