This section holds two kinds of guide. The fixes put the steps in the order that actually saves time: the check that rules out the most common cause first, then down to the rarer ones — so you are not reinstalling an operating system to solve a cable problem. Settings move between versions — Apple silicon behaves differently from Intel, and Windows 11 relocated half the control panel — so if a path in a guide does not match what you see, look for the setting by name in your own version rather than assuming the step is wrong.

The comparisons are desk research. They work from published specifications, manufacturer documentation and what independent reviewers or audits have reported. We do not run our own benchmarks and we do not have the hardware in front of us, so nothing in this section is a measurement we took. Treat any single performance figure as a manufacturer's rating unless a guide names another source for it.

Software moves. A settings path, a menu name, a free tier or a price can change after a guide goes up, and each guide carries its publication date for that reason. Where a number has to be exactly right — a limit, a price, a supported version — the vendor's own current documentation is the place to confirm it.
